Marie-Claude Blais was appointed a judge of the Court of Queen’s Bench on April 30, 2015. She currently sits in the Judicial District of Moncton in the Family Division. Prior to her appointment, Madam Justice Blais practiced law at McInnes Cooper in Moncton. Prior to that, she spent much of her career with the law firm of LeBlanc Maillet of Moncton.
Madam Justice Blais was a Member of the legislature from 2010-2014. She was Minister of education and Early Childhood Development. In addition, Justice Blais is the first woman in the history of the Province of New Brunswick to be appointed Minister of Justice and Attorney General. She also served as Minister responsible for Women’s Equality.
Madam Justice Blais is a graduate of the Université de Moncton (common law) and the Université de Sherbrooke (civil law).
